Sigrid “Siggi” Deckman, born in Kaiserslautern, Germany on August 19, 1946, passed away on April 9, 2018, surrounded be her loving family after a battle with cancer in Lambertville, Michigan. She is survived by her loving husband, Ben of 51 years; her son, Andrew; Grandkids, Curtis and Hans; great grandkids, Domonic, Areana and Lilluanna, and brother, Harald in Germany. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Raymond Hans Deckman; her mother, father, sister and brother. Siggi worked as a hairdresser for 43 years, always had a smile on her face, always helpful to others, she always said “As a hairdresser, if you have a problem in the morning, by the end of the day, that problem will be solved.” Making her own hours, she also had time to raise funds for her beloved veterans organizations. Such as, the V.A. mental health area in particular on Christmas day, with the help of St. Luke’s and Augsburg Lutheran Churches. She would like to say thank you for all the people that donated to this cause. You helped bring joy to the forgotten veterans. Siggi helped her church raise money by holding authentic German dinners. She was a founding member of St. Luke’s Luncheon Club that met on a monthly basis that would raise funds to be distributed to various charities.
There will be a gathering between 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 1690 Sterns Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI , where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
